Cemetery Sec 34 NW/SW, Mendon Twp
Moody cemetery is reached from McGregor by either of these routes: 1) turn off W. Main St. (Hwy 18) onto
Garnavillo Ave., which becomes Kittyhawk Ave. Follow
Kittyhawk Ave. south to a road on the east leading into
the cemetery (if you get to King Rd you will need to
backtrack a short distance). Follow the lane thru the
woods to the graveyard. Be aware that you can not see the cemetery from Kittyhawk Ave. and the cemetery road may not be well-marked (it is more of a lane through the woods than it is a road) |
~ original source of burials on this list is the survey of graves by Joyce Brucker when she walked the cemetery & recorded the inscriptions in the summer of 2003
~ Joyce's notes: There were some stones that were so worn down that we couldn't even get a rubbing off of them. In my research I found that that were also some bodies buried there with no stones, especially during the flu epidemic in the 1920's.
