S. C. Chillson

S. C. Chillson was born in Sperry Township, Ia., July 3, 1852. His father, Philip D. Chillson, came from Michigan to this county in the year 1850, and made three claims. He entered one of 160 acres on which our subject now resides, having purchased sixty-five acres. Philip Chillson died in 1856. His widow married John H. Welch, and resides near Strawberry Point. They have six children. S. C. Chillson was united in marriage with Mary McCrae in 1875. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1853. Three children have blessed their union - Philip D., born March 13, 1876; Marion, May 7, 1879, and James, Dec. 11, 1881. Mr. Chillson is extensively engaged in farming and stock-raising, and also carries on a dairy. In religious sentiment he is a Presbyterian, and in politics, neutral. He is one of the respresentative men of the township.
