Ray Webb and Family

Ray & Wretha Webb, Pat & Peggy

Original entry of this property was made in May 1855 from the United States of America to Mr. Samuel Shorten. In 1868, Mr. S. H. Mallory, Mrs. H. C. Sigler and Mr. Samuel Shorten filed the plat of the town of Murray.

Originally there was a wood frame building sitting on this property, Just what it housed we do not know but it was torn down. Mr. W. R. Benson built the present brick building in about 1905, and it was a furniture store and funeral parlor in rear of the building, Mr. Art Ryan was proprietor after Benson for several years.

A Grocery Store was started next door, south, sometime before 1882 by Mr. T, L, Garrett, then was owned by a son, Mr. O. E. Garrett until 1918 when it was purchased by

Family Store

Mr. M. I, Soll. In 1935, that store was cormpletly destroyed by fire and so moved to the present location, which was two separate stores, a restaurant and grocery store. In later years "Sollie's Stores" were made into one store housing groceries and dry goods, also an apartment was built onto the back of the store for living quarters. The Soll's owned the store until 1958, when sold to Mr. Floyd Vorrath, then to Mr. Glen Kimzey and then to Mr. Ray Webb.

Since July 1965, the store is owned and operated by Ray and Wretha Webb. Our family consists of two girls; Patricia Lynn, 12 years old; and Peggy Ann, 2 years old. We moved here from our home town of Chariton, Iowa.
