Corey Backer, son of James and Francis Backer, was married to Minnie Orwan, daughter of Samuel & Catherine Orwan, in 1901.

Corey worked on the railroad in 1901-1902 when the narrow gauge track was changed to wide gauge.

Following this they farmed for 44 years be-

fore retiring and moving to Murray. They lived two and one-half miles southwest of Murray. Below, pictured are the homes they occupied. The first being torn down and the second rebuilt in 1913, which is still standing.
