The Browning Club Cook Book

PREFACE.

"We may live without poetry, music and art;
We may live without conscience and live without heart;
We may live without friends; we may live without books;
But civilized man cannot live without cooks."

To the cooks of Atlantic, by whom the first Browning club Cook Book was so kindly received, and to those who are without a copy because the supply did not equal the demand, we offer a second and revised edition of our cook book. In making the revision we have kept two aims in view--to avoid repetition of the same recipes and to fill each department with the largest available collection of new recipes. It has been our effort to increase the variety of ways in which food may be prepared.

In offering the revised edition to our readers we wish to extend our thanks to the many friends who have contributed from their practical knowledge to insure the success of our work.

We call your attention to the advertisements. Many of them are from the same business men whose reliability you have tested and not found wanting; others are from new merchants whom we heartily recommend.

THE COMMITTEE.
