JOHN F. SCYBERT came to Cass County in 1879 from Griggsville, Illinois and was married to Allie Crowner. They acquired the T. M. Crowner farm in March, 1896, and the farm has been accupied [sic occupied] by the family until very recently. John F. Scybert operated this 175-acre farm until his death in 1916, in addition to other holdings in Brighton Township. He was survived by his wife and their five children - C. F., Harry, Grace, Blanche and Mary. The three Scybert sisters lived on the family farm for many years. Grace and Blanche Scybert were long-time teachers in the Brighton Township school system.
