WILLIAM BERRY was born in Hampshire County, Virginia, on October 18, 1819. At age three, his family moved to Clinton County, Ohio. In 1851, Mr. Berry moved to Butler County, Ohio, and in 1852 married Sarah Coulter of that county. The marriage resulted in four children (Amanda, Susan, John and Alice) before Sarah died in 1859. William Berry then married a widow, Mrs. Margaret Zeek, in 1867. The Berry family left Ohio in 1872 and settled on land in Brighton Township which he had purchased in 1857, containing 160 acres.
