THE FIRST CENTURY

"A History of Marne, Iowa"

The Town of Marne, Iowa, was incorporated and surveyed in May, 1875. To commemorate this proud occasion in local history, the citizens of marne are planning festivities for une 20-22, 1975, to celebrate the Centennial Anniversary. The Marne Centennial Central Committee has commissioned the Historical Committee with the responsibility of gathering information to be included in this book, "The First Century, A History of Marne, Iowa".

We would like to thank the former and present residents of Marne and vicinity for their cooperation in our efforts to accumulate the memories of the past to be recorded for the generations of the future.

This history is dedicated to the pioneers who settled in this vicinity, the settlers who established and developed Marne, and the present citizens who strive to improve upon the traditions of their predecessors.br>
