FRANKLIN H. WHITNEY
FRANKLIN H. WHITNEY, died at his home in Atlantic, October, 11, 1896, at the age of 64. He was born in Mexico, Oswego county, New York, and received an academic education. He came to Iowa in 1856 and settled near where he laid out the town of Whitneyville, the year following. He founded
The Gazette at Lewis, which was the pioneer newspaper in Cass county. In company with John Keyes and Isaac Dickerson, he laid out the town of Atlantic in 1870.
