1884 Biographies

JACOB HEMPEL


Jacob Hempel came in 1870, and took up his farm on the southeast quarter of section 23. He was born in Germany in March, 1833, and was reared on a farm in that country. In 1853 he came to America, locating in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. In 1868 he removed to LaSalle county, Illinois, where he remained till 1870, when he came to this county, settling in Noble township as aforesaid. He was married in 1854 to Catharine Gorlach. They have four children living -- Justus, Elizabeth, Catharine and George.
