1884 Biographies

JOHN BERG


John Berg came to Cass county in January, 1873, and purchased one hundred and twenty acres of wild land on section 21, and has since that time cultivated his land, until 1881, when he sold it to his son William. Mr. Berg is a native of Germany, born on the 12th of September, 1821, In 1868, he came to the United States, and first settled in La Salle county, Illinois, and remained there until 1873, when he came to Noble township, Cass county. He was married in Germany, to Elizabeth Huny, who died in December, 1879, leaving four children -- August, Mary, Augusta and William. Since his death, Mr. Berg has lived with his children, who welcome their aged father to their fireside.
