1884 Biographies

STEPHEN BEECHER


Stephen Beecher came to Cass county in the spring of 1882, and located on section 32. He raises a large number of sheep and other stock, and is known as one of the best stock-raisers in the township. He was born on the 24th of July, 1817, and is the son of Joel and Rebecca (Hadsell) Beecher. He came west to Page county, Iowa, in 1873, where he was engaged in farming about ten years, when he came to Cass county and has since resided here. His wife's maiden name was Phoebe Tuttle, and by whom he has had six children, four of whom are now living: Francis, dead; Samuel, Harriet, dead; Sarah, Emily and Walter. Mr. Beecher is a member of the Congregational church.
