AT REST.-Fred Harris is dead, was the remark made by many of our citizens last Friday forenoon. For a number of years ho had gradually failed in health and since November last had been confined to the house and bed most of the time. The funeral services took place at U. B. church Sunday, at 11 A. M. Rev. J. E.
Rowen officiating after which the remains were escorted to the cemetery and buried by the members of Gen. Lyon G. A. R. Post, of which organization we bevel the deceased had been a member from its formation. During the war the deceased belonged to the Second Iowa Cavalry and we have heard it said by those who were his comrades that he was never known to shirk a duty or desert a friend. On his return home he was elected sheriff of Hamilton county and for several terms filled the position acceptably. For ten years or more he had been a resident of this county. Whatever his failings may have been Fred Harris was a man of generous impulses, loyal to his friends and a firm supporter of whatever he believed to be right, and now that he has joined the "silent majority" lot the mantle of charity cover his faults and his good deeds be fondly borne in mind. In their hour of affliction the sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all.
