Mis. Joanna McOllough died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris. Dawson, Sunday morning, and was buried in the Clarion cemetery Monday. Services were held at the residence by Rev. J. E. Denton to a large gathering of relatives and friends.
The following sketch has been handed us by a friend:
Joanna G. Condit was born August 10th, 1815, in Washington county, Penn. She was married Nov. 29th, 1838, to Canada McOllough, of the same place. They moved to Cedar county, Iowa, in the spring of 1841, where Mr. McOllough died Feb. 16th, 1868. After that Mrs. McOllough lived with her children, moving with them to Wright county in the summer of 1874, and this has been her home since that time. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs Chas. Dawson, after lingering illness. She joined the Presbyterian church when a young girl and has always lived a consistent christian life. She was the mother of seven children, six of whom, three sons and three daughters survive her. Five of the children were present at the funeral, A. B. McOllough, Mrs. Geo. Rundall and Mrs. Chris. Dawson, of Clarion, Mrs. S. C. Anderson, of San Diego, Calif., and Attorney McOllough, of Eagle Grove. Her long residence in this vicinity marle her hosts of friends, who will mourn a kind hearted woman gone and sympathize with the relatives in their loss.
