KILLED BY LIGHTNING.-From J. D. Brooks, of Iowa township, we learn the particulars of a sad accident occurring in his neighborhood last Saturday afternoon. Mr. George Polmateer, wife and small child had been at a neighbor's visiting and on their way am home Mr. P. drove his team to a hayfield near by for the purpose of procuring a supply of hay. While loading the hay a bolt of lightning struck Mrs. Polmateer, killing her instantly and knocking her husband down. The child, though sitting in its mother's lap, escaped without Injury and was found on the ground near the wagon by the father on his return to consciousness. It seems a miracle that all three were not killed by the destructive bolt. Mrs. P. was an old resident of the county and a lady universally esteemed by her acquaintances. In their hour of sorrow the husband and little ones are sure of condolence and kind deeds from sympathizing friends and neighbors.
