Abram W. Howe departed this life! last Monday morning aged 81 years, 6 months and 9 days. Death came to him as a kindly release from years of suffering and pain. He was aflicted with a complication of ailments, and his ill health has extended over a for period of fifteen years, during the last six years of which he has been bed fast. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church yestorduy, conducted by Rev. Johnson.

Mr. Howe was a native of Milford, N. H. He was a resident of Vermont, Illinois and Wisconsin previous to his coming to Iowa. He was almost a pioneer in this stato, as it has been his home since 1865. He lived in Lowa Falls eleven years, and then came to Wright county and located in Lincoln township. He was a carpenter by of trade and followed it for thirty-two years. April 3, 1850, Mr. Howe was married to Maria M. Barker. He was A the father of four children, George, or Herbert, Dora and Frank. Only the two latter are living. Mrs. Howe diod in 1883, and two years later he became the husband of Mrs. Emma Stricker, who survives him. Mr. Howe has been a member of both the Baptist and Methodist churches. He enjoyed fellowship with the latter denomination in Clarion. During his long illness he has been tenderly cared for by his faithful wife, who has spared no pains to bring everything possible of comfort and cheer to his surroundings.
