Andrew Christensen
31 October 1869 ---- 24 March 1953

Andrew Christensen, 83, youngest of 10 children (five girls and five boys all deceased) was born near Malmo, Sweden, October 31, 1869. At the age of 18, in the year 1888, he migrated to the United States, first locating in Bancroft, Iowa, where he worked as a blacksmith and wagon maker. He then went to Canton, South Dakota, and worked before coming to Eagle Grove, where he was in business in the same location for 61 years.

On April 6, 1893 at Granville, Ill. he was united in marriage to Joanna Nelson. He brought his bride back to Eagle Grove where they established their home and business. To this union were born five daughters, Clara (Mrs. M. K. Brown) of Glendale, Calif.; Dorothy (Mrs. R. M. Walters) of Tulsa, Okla.; Lillian (Mrs. D. Brady) of Nashua, Iowa; Jane (Mrs. Vernon Spellmeyer) of Eagle Grove; and Mildred, deceased. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Mr. Christensen worked at the shop until August when he fell and broke his arm and since t hen has been in failing health. He died Tuesday March 24th.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; four daughters, four granddaughters, Mrs. Robert Lorenzen of Centerville, Iowa; Mildred Brown of Glendale, Calif.; and Beverly and Janet Spellmeyer of Eagle Grove.
