Susan Thompson Horton
12 October 1859 ---- 30 June 1953

Susan, daughter of John and Mary Jane Thompson, was born October 12, 1859 in Illinois. She passed away after a long illness on June 30, 1953 having reached the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 18 days. Her early life was spent on a farm with her parents in Illinois.

On September 15, 1884 she was united in marriage to William H. Horton at Wauponsee, Illinois. In 1905 she moved to their farm in Lake Township, Wright County, Iowa. After about twelve years they retired from the farm to Eagle Grove, and it has been her home until the time of her passing.

She was a member of the Congregational Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William H. Horton and two brothers, James and Samuel Thompson. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Henrichs and two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Most of her life was spent on the farm or directing the farm, and she was always willing to help out whenever she, was able.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 3, 1953 at Wilson Chapel, Eagle Grove, Iowa with Rev. Dale Brown officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
