Richard Pohlman funeral Thursday
Richard Joseph Pohlman, 14, died Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Pohlman, 821 So. Commercial, by apparent suicide. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Chas. Dutton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents; three brothers: Pvt. 2-c Rob Pohlman with the U.S. Army in Italy, Randy Pohlman at home, Michael Pohlman, Alden, two sisters, Monica and Cynthia Pohlman at home. Also two grandmothers, Mrs. Bernice Barrett, Charles City and Mrs. Mary Pohlman, Eagle Grove. Richard was born in Clarion and moved here in 1970. He was a pupil in the 8th grade at Middle School and was active in band, track, chorus a school and was a member of the Young Vibrations Choir at the First Baptist Church.

Richard Joseph Pohlman, the son of Gary and Violet Lockett Pohlman, was born August 23, 1962 at Clarion, Iowa. He attended school at Clarion until coming to Eagle Grove in 1970. At the time of his death he was an eighth grade student at the Eagle Grove Middle School, where he was active in band, track, and chorus. Before going to the Baptist Church, he sang in the Young Vibration choir of the Methodist Church which he attended for six years.

Rick died Sunday, April 24 at his home at the age of 14 years, seven months, and one day. Survivors include his parents, Gary and Violet Pohlman, Eagle Grove; grandmothers, Mrs. Bernice Barrett, Charles City and Mrs. Mary Pohlman, Eagle Grove; three brothers - Pvt. 2nd class Rob Pohlman, stationed with the U.S. Army in Italy, Randy Pohlman, Eagle Grove and Michael Pohlman, Alden; and two sisters, Monica and Cynthia Pohlman, Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Charles Dutton officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
