Mrs. Sylvia (Studley) Mead daughter of Charles Studley and Mary Torp was born June 21, 1888 in Hamilton County and passed away at the Belmond hospital February 3, 1954 at the age of 65 years. 9 months and 12 days. Mrs. Mead had been in failing health for several months and entered the hospital three weeks ago.

Mrs. Mead received her education in the county schools of Hamilton county. In 1910 she was united in marriage to John M. Jones and to this union were born six children all of whom are still living, Mr. Jones passed away June 29, 1931. She married Olaf Nelson, October 19, 1936, who preceeded her in death December 26, 1940. On April 23, 1944 Mearl Mead and Mrs. Nelson were united in marriage.

Besides her husband Mearl, she is survived by six children, Mrs. Tolford Larson of Kanawha; Mrs. J. E. Melhus of Clarion; Harold Jones of Minona, Minn. Leonard Jones of Winner, S. D., Dick Jones of Fontana, Calif.; Rev. J. C. Jones of Cambridge, Md., two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Akens of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Daisy Stevenson of Fort Worth, Texas fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Mead was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Grove and was active in the ladies missionary work of the church.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon in the Baptist church. Officiating at the service was Rev. Harry F. Stickle, the music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stickle accompanied by Miss Carol Zinser. Rev. Jack Jones, son of Mrs. Mead assisted at the grave service.
