Mrs. Julia Mead Funeral Today

Funeral services will be this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kastler Funeral Home for Mrs. Julia Mead, 81, who died Tuesday morning about 4:30 at her home. She had been seriously ill for the past five months, and is survived by one son Raymond Mead, and one brother Walter Flower of Eagle Grove and one sister Mrs. Myrtle Opheim, of Thor. Rev. Arthur Johnson will officiate at the rites, and burial will be in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.

Julia Mead was born to Wm. and Mary Flower, March 13, 1878 in Story City, Iowa, and died at her home in Eagle Grove, Aug. 4, 1959 at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 22 days. She moved to Eagle Grove with her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. S Flower in the fall of 1888, attended Eagle Grove schools, and was married to Harry J. Mead in 1907. Two sons were born to this union, Willard J. Mead and Raymond of this city. Her husband died in 1927 at the age of 48, her son Willard died in October, 1949 at the age of 41.

Left to mourn are her son Ray­mond and his wife and their three children Marion, Raymond Jr. and Betty. Also one sister Mrs. Myrtle Opheim of Thor, one brother Walter Flower of Eagle Grove, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mead was a member of the Church of God for many years and before her husband's death she attended yearly church conferences a number of times in Waterloo.
