Word was received Monday of the death of Elmer Barnes, of Chillicothe, Mo., formerly of that place. He died in Beaumont, Texas, while there on business. The remains were brought here for burial. He is the oldest son of the late Mrs. Barnes and was raised here. His death came as a great surprise as he was not known to be ailing and made a visit here a short time ago.

A telegram to relatives here last week brought the unexpected and sad news to the death of Elmer Barnes, a brother of Mrs. A. K. Westbrook and Mrs. Frank Hartsock. Three weeks ago, he went to Sulphur Springs, Ark., from his home at Chillicothe, Mo., for his health. Leaving that place for San Antonio, Texas he was taken worse at Beaumont enroute and placed in the Catholic Sisters hospital in that city. Here he failed rapidly and in a short time died. Mr. Barnes suffered much from a tumor, the effects of which is supposed to have been the indirect cause of his death.

The remains were brought to Goldfield for burial last Friday. Interment took place in Glenwood cemetery with brief services at the grave conducted by Rev. Artman —Goldfield Chronicle.
