Ruth Hibbert Knoble
15 September 1893 ----- 3 April 1969

Ruth Hibbert was born September 15, 1893 at Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of George and Johanna Larson Hibbert.

She received her education in the Eagle Grove schools and graduated from high school in Eagle Grove, and from the Presbyterian Hospital School for Nurses in Chicago in 1917.

She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1917 soon after war was declared and served two years in Jefferson Barracks, Mo and Camp Mills, Long Island and overseas, one year with the American Expeditionary Forces in France.

On December 18, 1919, she was united in marriage to Charles Knoble of Nevada, Mo. at Clarion, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Knoble became the parents of two children, William Knoble, New Canaan, Conn., and Ruth Anne, Mrs. Stanley Cross, La Habra, Calif.

Mrs. Knoble died at the Rotary Ann Retirement Home, where she had lived for some time, on Thursday, April 3, at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 18 days. In addition to her two children, she is survived by five grandchildren. Her husband, Charles, died in 1957.

Mrs. Knoble was a member of the Methodist Church, C & N W Woman's Club, the L.A. of the brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, and was a continuous member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her parents, George and Johanna Hibbert, built the Grove Hotel in Eagle Grove in 1888, where Ruth was born in 1893. They were also very active in community affairs and projects.

Funeral services were held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Saturday April 5, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald Forbes of the 1st United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Military services were conducted at the graveside by the Clarence Schurtz American Legion Post of Eagle Grove.
