Donald Ray Gardalen, 71, died Friday (Nov. 21, 1997) at the Dows Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn Kappelmann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Elledge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donald was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Dows. Survivors include his wife, Ina Mae, of Dows; two daughters, Donna Rae Schulz of Storm Lake and Sandra Kay Sturgeon of Rowan; one son, Dennis Donald Gardalen, of Clarion; eight grandchildren; one sister, Edna Hartkopp, of Popejoy; and four brothers, Harley of Popejoy, Lloyd of Bloomfield, Colo., Floyd of Denver, Colo., and Leo of Ventura. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one grandson.
