Parker Smith Rites Held at Eagle Grove

EAGLE GROVE — Funeral services for Parker Smith were held at the funeral parlors of Kubitschek and Kastler, Sunday afternoon at 4, in charge oŁ the Rev. A. S. Kilbourn of the Congregational church. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery Eagle Grove.

The funeral of Parker Allen Smith, who died at St. Luke's Methodist hospital, Cedar Rapids, early Friday morning, after an illness of nine weeks, was held at the Kubitschek and Kastler Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock, Rev. A. S. Kilbourn officiating. Appropriate duets were sung by Mrs. John Shoenhair and Mrs. Evert McGrath, with Mrs. J. R. Tumbleson, accompanist. Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.

He was the son of John C. and Louisa Hartwick [Hartsock] Smith and was born at Grove City, Ill., on April 14, 1881, his age being at the time of his death, 58 years, 2 months, and 16 days.

The family moved to Wright county in 1896. In 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Thebiay of Eagle Grove. She and the daughter, Lillian, now Mrs. Douglass Churchill, reside in California. He was a farmer southwest of Eagle Grove for several years. For the past 15 years he has been a salesman living in Cedar Rapids. Four years ago, he invented a disc sharpener, which proved to be very popular. He was known in Cedar Rapids as P. A. Smith, Wheelman.

Besides his immediate family, he is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Edgar Smith of Edinburg, Ill.; Joe Smith of Eagle Grove; Ted Smith of Parsons, Kan.; Guy Smith of Corwith; Mrs. Bertha Ward of Humboldt; and Mrs. Blanche McGrath of Eagle Grove. A brother, Harley Smith, preceded him in death.
