Mary Letitia Collins O'Toole
19 February 1876 ---- 24 July 1964

Mrs. T. J. O'Toole, 88, died early Friday morning in the Rotary Ann Home where she had been a patient for about a year and a half.

Mrs. O'Toole is survived by four sons and two daughters, Rev. Thos. O'Toole of Corwith; Dr. Lawrence O'Toole of LeMars; Dr. Roger O'Toole of Phoenix, Ariz.; Gerald O'Toole, Mrs. Francis Mentzer and Mrs. Matt Thielen of Eagle Grove. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. W. T. Murphy of Eagle Grove, who has made her home in the O'Toole home for many years, and Mrs. E. C. Norris who resides at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock in Sacred Heart church with Father Thos. O'Toole celebrant at the solemn requiem high mass. Rev. Carl Kurt of Iowa Falls was deacon; Rev. Justin Kane of Britt, subdeacon; and his excellency The Most Rev. James J. Byrne, Archbishop of Dubuque presided at the absolution following the mass.

The Catholic Daughters of America served as honor guard. Rev. Francis Phelan, pastor Sacred Heart, gave the sermon and tribute to Mrs. O'Toole.

Deacons to the Archbishop were Rt. Rev. J. E. Slowey of Clarion and Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. A. Hclbach of Webster City.

Master of ceremonies to the Archbishop was Rev. Robert Palen of Garner and master of ceremonies for the mass was Rev. Justin Kress of Ackley. Other members of the clergy present were Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. V. Feeley, president of Loras College, Dubuque; Rt. Rev. Msgr. Hradesky, Duncan; Rt. Rev. Msgr. McEvoy, Fort Dodge; Rev. Hayes, Duncombe; Rev. Donald Hutchinson Dubuque; Rev. Ray Bohrer, Rockwell.

Interment was in Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. O'Toole, the former Mary Letitia Collins, was born in Indianapolis, Ind., and moved to Iowa with her parents when she was a small child. She came to Eagle Grove in 1890 and in 1900 was married to Dr. T. J. O'Toole, a pioneer Eagle Grove physician and surgeon.

For many years she assisted her husband with the care of the sick in their own home in Eagle Grove where Dr. O'Toole maintained an emergency hospital, before he and Dr. J. R. Christensen joined in the hospital which is now the office of Dr. George Hogenson.

Dr. O'Toole died in 1943.

Mrs. O'Toole was a member of Sacred Heart church, the first president of the Guild, and a charter member, and past grand regent of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She was one of the originators of the East West bridge club which was organized here about 40 years ago.

Until her sudden illness about two years ago she was the president of the Calvary Cemetery Ass'n. and had charge of the many duties of the cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Mrs. Eileen Schoennoehlf of Portland, Ore.

Royal, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hoffman, LeMars; Miss Elizabeth Priest, Corwith; Mrs. J. A. Scheuring, Thomas Scheuring, Iona, Minn.; Mrs. I. D. Hilger, Lakefield, Minn.; Mrs. T. I. Griffin, Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. J. E . Whalen, Cedar Rapids; Miss Margaret Garland, Mrs. Stella Benoist, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
