The Goldfield Chronicle

Mrs. Esther Mary Oviatt, 75, died Tuesday morning at the Sisson Nursing Home in Humboldt where she had been a patient for sixteen months.

Mrs. Oviatt is survived by one son, Russell, Goldfield post master, two daughters, Mrs. Dean Matthew at Storm Lake and Miss Mary Oviatt of Portland, Ore., also three grandchildren, one brother, Fred Farmer of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Fred Madison of Garrison, Iowa.

Funeral services will be Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church, with the Rev. Benjamin Price officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Esther Mary Farmer was born to parents Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Farmer, in Humboldt County, Aug. 10th, 1890. She was married to Herbert Oviatt on Dec. 25th, 1914 in Goldfield, and she had lived most of her life in the Goldfield area. Mr. Oviatt died Sept. 30, 1946. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Esther Mary Farmer was born to parents Esther Russell Farmer and Frederick Bukey Farmer on Aug. 10, 1890, in Humboldt County, Iowa. She passed away at Humboldt, Aug. 2, 1966, at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 22 days.

With her parents and brothers and sisters she moved to Goldfield at an early age and resided there most of her life until March, 1965, when she became a patient at the Sisson Home in Humboldt.

She was united in marriage to Herbert C. Oviatt on December 25, 1913. To this union were born four children: Inez Esther, who died in infancy; Russell H., Goldfield; Josephine (Mrs. Dean Matthew), of Storm Lake; and Mary M., Portland, Oregon.

Mrs. Oviatt was preceded in death by her husband on September 30, 1946; by her parents; and by brothers Walter, Russell, Claude, Wesley, Frank, and William M. Farmer, and by sister Mae Farmer Lockwood. She is survived by her three children; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Madison of Garrison, Iowa; and one brother, Fred B. Farmer, Sante Fe Springs, Calif.

Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield following services at the First Methodist Church in Goldfield, Aug. 4. A life-long member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Oviatt leaves a host of friends who mourn her passing,
