Don Wilbur Tallman, 96, of Newton, formerly of the Clarion and Storm Lake, IA areas, was born March 7, 1917, in Tripp, South Dakota, the son of John A. and Mary E. (Eddy) Tallman. He was a high school graduate, and later served his country during World War II, with the US Army and Army Reserves. Don was a Finish Carpenter, and was self-employed for most of his life. On December 20, 1940, Don was united in marriage with Margaret A. Munn in Clarion. He had committed his life to his wife, family and friends, and enjoyed woodworking. Don died Friday morning, June 21, 2013, at the Heritage Manor in Newton, IA, under the care of Skiff Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor Don's memory include his son John (Bonnie) Tallman of LaPorte City, CO; his daughters: Janet (Kenneth) Miller of Longmont, CO, Mary Jane Binder of Storm Lake and Anne (Jim) Willemsen of Newton; his ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his sisters: June Feil of Crosby, North Dakota and Mary "Lois" Inman of Udall, Kansas. A private family service and interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being designated to Skiff Hospice in Newton.
