William Loyd Patterson, 55, of Lyons, Kan., a former Sioux Cityan, died recently at his home in Lyons.
Mr. Patterson was born October 15, 1887, in Schaller, Ia., and came here at the age of 13. In 1908 he was graduated from Central high school, where he had starred in football. He also attended Morningside college.
In 1909 Mr. Patterson moved to Springfield, S. D., and in 1911 married Mabel Kesslinger. Several years later the couple moved Sioux City and Mr. Patterson worked in the electrical department of a packing plant here. While living here they made their home at 3605 Fourth avenue.
After five years with the packing plant here, Mr. Patterson was transferred to Lyons, where was placed in charge of the electrical department of a salt mine there. He remained in that position until his death.
Mr. Patterson was a member of the Civics literary society at Central high school, Grace Methodist church and the blue lodge of the Masons.
Surviving are the widow, Mabel; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Ford of Wichita, Kan., and Ellen Patterson of Lyons; two sons, Capt. Harold Loyd Patterson of the army medical corps at Camp Robinson, Little Rock, Ark., and Wayne Patterson of Lyons; a brother, Ray R. Patterson of Springfield, S.D., a sister, Miss Katherine Patterson of Sioux City, and one grandson.
Funeral services and burial were in Lyons.
