John Richard Marrinan

Oct. 13, 1942 - Feb. 29, 2024

SERGEANT BLUFF - John Richard Marrinan, 81, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away February 29, 2024 at a local hospital. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

John was born on October 13, 1942 to John and Ester Marrinan in Shakopee, MN. He was raised on a farm and moved to Sioux City in 1964. John enlisted in the United States Army in 1959. He was united in marriage to Joann Manners in December of 1964. She died in December of 1992. John was then married to Fern. John obtained his private pilots license in 2001. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #508 and past Master and member of the Sioux City Scottish Rite, Abu Becker Shrine, member of the Ritchal Divan and Unit Wrecking Crew. John was a member of the Sergeant Bluff American Legion Post 662. He loved to work in the Lodge, Scottish Right and Shrine. John trucked all of his life as an over the road driver with his own semi.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons: Keith Marrinan, Jason (Jackie) Marrinan, Heath (Carmen) Marrinan; grandchildren: Matt, Sam, Nate, and Sophia Marrinan; and great-grandson, Jason.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joann.
