Diane Lynn Yockey, the daughter of Lester and Elsie (Gerstandt) Kuehl, was born on October 12, 1948, in Cherokee, Iowa. She grew up in Paullina, Iowa and received her education at Paullina High School where she was active in speech, drama, and pep club. She graduated with the class of 1966. After high school she attended Estherville Junior College in Estherville, Iowa and received her certification in Clerical/Bookkeeping.

While living and working in Sioux City, Iowa, Diane met and married Dennis Lee Yockey on November 15, 1969, at the United Methodist Church on Morningside Avenue. The couple made their home in Anthon, Iowa and were blessed with two children: Dawn and David. Throughout her lifetime, Diane worked as a bookkeeper for various offices including Doc Cavanaugh’s vet clinic, the Rodney Elevator, Home Elevator in Battle Creek, and the Anthon Elevator. In her retirement, she filled in as a temporary city clerk for the city of Anthon.

Diane enjoyed camping with family and friends, water skiing, and dancing. Vacationing with her brothers and their wives was a highlight for her, whether it was just a weekend away or a longer stay somewhere like when they traveled to Arizona. Diane loved getting together not only with her immediate family but with her extended family. She always looked forward to attending and planning family reunions.

Diane could be found out in her yard tending to her flowers or playing cards with the card club. She was known as a bit of a card shark as she enjoyed playing 500, Bridge, Wizard, and Phase 10, which her family claims she was occasionally caught cheating at. She enjoyed her daily dose of Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper, pecan pie, sage dressing, and blue cheese dressing. Diane was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and could be found each Saturday trying to find the football game on TV. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her children Dawn (David) Zahnley of Anthon, IA and David (Deby) Yockey of Sioux Falls, SD; grandsons Dawson and Drew Zahnley of Anthon, IA; brothers Richard (Phyllis) Kuehl of Cedar Falls, IA and Randy (Marcia) Kuehl of Moville, IA; best friend Selma Mills of Battle Creek, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends along with coworkers whom she considered her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Elsie Kuehl; her husband Dennis Yockey; as well as other beloved family members.
