Henry Wessling Taken By Death

Father of Mapleton Young Man Passes Away in Home At Danbury Saturday

Henry Wessling, 72 years old, a resident of the Danbury community since 1899, died in his home Saturday night, March 21. Mr Wessling suffered a stroke three months ago.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in the Danbury St. Mary's church. Father George Wessling of Pocahontas, brother of Mr. Wessling was celebrant, Father Dailey of Ida Grove, deacon; Father A. A. Bausch of Danbury, subdeacon; and Rev. A. H. Ocken of Mapleton, master of ceremonies of the solemn requiem high mass.

Burial was in the Danbury St. Mary's cemetery.

Pullbearers were Pete Wolterman, Thomas Fitzpatrick, John Sohm, A. J. Riedmiller, Fred Treiber and Nels Sorensen.

Mr. Wessling was born near Breda, Carroll County, 72 years ago last September, being a son of Joseph and Christina Wessling. He grew to manhood in the Breda community and on October 17,1899, was married at Breda to Miss Anna M. Schroeder. They moved to Danbury and established a home on a farm
4 miles east of there. Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wessling moved to town.

To them ten children were born, Clara died when a child. Those surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Matt (Christina) Meier and Mrs. Forrest (Elleen) Burton, of Danbury, and Mrs. Frank (Catherine) Peters of Sioux City, and six sons, B. J. Wessling and Herman Wessling of Danbury, Lawrence Wessling of Mapleton, George Wessling of Danbury, Elmer Wessling of Battle Creek and Pfc. Leo Wessling in
the Philippines. There are 18 grandchildren.

He also is survived by three brothers, Lou Wessling and Joe Wessling of Breda and Father Wessling of Pocahontas, and one sister, Mrs. Ben Kleine of Danbury.
