BATTLE CREEK, Iowa -Elmer Joseph Wessling, 63, rural Battle Creek, died Monday in a hospital at Sterling, Ill., after suffering an apparent heart attack while visiting his son at Rock Falls, Ill.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery under direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Mapleton.

The Rosary will be recited a 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Mr. Wessling was born Dec. 31, 1914, at Danbury. He was a lifelong resident of the Danbury and Battle Creek area except for one year when he lived in Idaho.

He married Anna Sorensen April 5, 1937, at Danbury. They lived on a farm six miles southwest of Battle Creek. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Thomas of Rock Falls; a daughter, Mrs. William (Shirley) Muabach of Omaha; two brothers, B.J. of Danbury and Leo of Branson; two sisters, Mrs. Christina Peters of Danbury and Mrs. Frank (Katheryn) Peters of Rochester, Minn., and four grandchildren.
