Mrs. John Butler, 76, longtime Hornick resident, died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hornick Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Textor officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, under direction of the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting, Iowa.

Mrs. Butler, the former Hazel Fern Boyd, was born Dec. 12, 1895 at Hornick. She was a rural schoolteacher in the Hornick area before her marriage to Mr. Butler June 15, 1924 in Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Butler was a member of the Hornick Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge and of American Legion Auxiliary, both of Hornick.

Survivors include the widower of Hornick; four sons, Clarence H. Nicholisen of Roseville, Calif., Charles N. Nicholisen of Salt Lake City, John R. Boyd of South Sioux City and William Butler of Washta, Iowa: two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Beth) Johnston of Hornick and Mrs. Mervin (Jessie) Zellmer of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Maurice Visnow, also of Sioux City; a half-brother, Ernest Pollard of Grovespring, Mo.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Marie Pugslev of Henning, Minn., and Mrs. Doris Robinson of Washington, D.C.; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
