Mrs. William B. Burns, 84, 2115 S. Alice St., died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. The Rev. Merton B Green of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vernon, Cecil and Ralph Burns, Edward Arvesen, William Grahams and Oscar Foss.

The former Kittie L. Young, Mrs. Burns was born Jan. 1, 1886, at Smithland. She attended Cedar Falls State Teachers College and taught in the Onawa, Grant Center, Rodney and Hornick areas. She was married to Mr. Burns May 6, 1908, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Hornick and Kingsley area until retiring to Sioux City in 1954. Mr. Burns died Oct. 14, 1968. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary May 6, 1968.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and of Ruth Circle at Grace Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Edith) Rose of Hornick, Mrs. Glenn (Roberta) Edgington of Mapleton, Iowa, and Mrs. Robert (Kathryn) Stoner of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Harriett Mooring of Santa Venitia, Calif.; a grandchild, and two great grandchildren.
