RODNEY, Ia. – Special: Funeral services for Earl James Callaghan, 68, Mapleton, Ia., who died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a two-month illness, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical church at German City, Ia. Rev. Henry Held will officiate.

Burial will be in Willow township cemetery near Hornick, Ia., under direction of the Willman funeral home of Rodney.

Before moving to Mapleton five years ago Mr. Callaghan farmed in the Oto, Ia., community. He was born June 1, 1892 at Oto and after farming about 39 years returned five years ago.

He married Celia Metcalf December 22, 1915. He was a member of St. John Evangelical church, Amicable lodge 289, A. F. & A. M., and Evergreen chapter 251, Order of Eastern Star, both at Smithland.

Survivors besides the widow are three sons, Raymond of Mapleton, Orval and Glen, both of Oto; a daughter, Mrs. Florence Edgington of Mapleton; a brother, Carl of Smithland; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Claus of Smithland, and Mrs. Minnie Eichhorn of Sioux City, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
