Jared Sharp was born April 11, 1849, in Pocahontas county, W. Va., and came to Iowa in 1853. On December 26, 1880, he was married to Miss Hannah Heckle. They went to Madison, S. D., where they lived until 1898, when they returned to Burr Oak, Iowa, where they have since resided. To this union only one child was born, Winnie Gladys. For years Mr. Sharp has been in very poor health, and two weeks ago decided to go to Montana, thinking it might benefit him, but growing worse he returned immediately, reaching home on Nov. 5, and on Nov. 10 he passed away at the home of their neighbor Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Reed, at whose place he and Mrs. Sharp were staying while having their house repaired, which was nearly destroyed by fire a week ago. Beside his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Krick of Schaller, Iowa, he leaves three grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Marcus Taylor of Frog Lake, Canada, and Mrs. Joe Raney of Staples, Minn., and three brothers, Crawford of Cluffton, Iowa, Boone of Cresco, Iowa, and John of Sterling, N. D. Two brothers have passed away. Mr. Sharp was well known in Burr Oak and had a host of friends that will miss their friendly chats. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the J. B. Reed home, and at 2:00 o’clock at the M. E. church, Rev. Edie officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Burr Oak cemetery. Those left to mourn his loss have the sympathy of the entire community.
