OBITUARY.
ASA W. ADAMS.
As announced in the Republican last week the funeral of Asa W. Adams was held last Sunday at the residence of G. F. Baker. Mr. Adams was born February 26, 1842, at Sheffield, Ohio, and came to Iowa when quite young. He learned the photographer’s business at McGregor when he was twenty-one years of age and then came to Decorah and established a business that he carried on here for twenty-one years, when he moved with his family to Waterloo and opened a studio which he operated until his health failed some fifteen years ago. For several years after he disposed of his business he continued to do special photographic work which did not tax his strength. On November 28, 1866, he married Emma J. Fuller, who survives him. To this union four children were born, Mrs. G. F. Baker of Decorah, Miss Jennie and Cranston Adams of Waterloo and one son, William, who died several years ago. It was at Mr. Adams’ request that his remains were brought to Decorah for burial. Not many of the old friends and acquaintances who were here when this was his home are now living, but he is recalled by those who remain as a man of genial temperament, kind hearted and devoted to his family.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he and died Nov. 11, 1915. He is buried in Phelps Cemetery.
