OBITUARY.
Mrs. Ingeborg Fortun died on Wednesday last at the home of her son C. A. Fortun in Glenwood township, having recently passed her eighty-eighth birthday. Mrs. Fortun’s maiden name was Ingeborg Hendrickson, and she was born on October 7th, 1827, in Borgund, Norway. She was married in her native country to Ole Fortun and came to America in 1861. They settled on Union Prairie, in Allamakee county, where Mrs. Fortun continued to reside until the death of her husband eighteen years ago, when she went to make her home with her son Chris. Besides this son, she is survived by her son Henry and her daughter Mrs. Anna Eidum, of Gary, Minn. Mrs. Fortun was a great sufferer during the past year but bore her sufferings patiently. Her death removed one of the oldest citizens of Glenwood township. The sympathy of many friends go to her family in their bereavement. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon at the Glenwood church, Rev. Scarvie officiating.
Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery shows she died Nov. 3, 1915. Find a Grave shows her maiden name spelled Hendricksen.
