OBITUARY.
FANCHER.
On Sunday, March 17, 1918, after a brief illness due to an attack of lagrippe, Miss Abbie Fancher passed peacefully away at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. P. Curtis, of Orleans Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa.
Abigail Ann Fancher, daughter of Alanson and Lydia Fancher, was born in Pound Ridge, Westchester County, New York, July 20, 1842.
Early in life, she united with the Pound Ridge Presbyterian Church of which she was an active member until 1905 when owing to the death of her parents she came to Iowa to make her home with Mrs. A. P. Curtis, bringing her church letter which she placed in Morgan M. E. Church of which she remained a loyal, faithful member till she joined the church triumphant.
She leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters, Mrs. Mary J. Curtis and Mrs. Florence Curtis, both of Orleans Township, also one brother Ward I. Fancher, of Glen Cove, Long Island, also many, many friends who will miss her smiling face, gentle ways and kindly ministrations.
Outside of the home of which she had for thirteen years been a member, she will be missed most of all by the Morgan Church and Sunday School where she has been a devoted worker and beloved teacher of the Women’s Bible Class.
The funeral service at the home on Tuesday afternoon, March 19th, was in charge of her pastor, Rev. G. M. Shoemaker, who used as a scripture test: II Corinthians 5:9, “We make it our aim whether at home or absent to be well pleasing unto Him.” This scripture was especially appropriate, having been put into practice by this conscientious, Christian woman. Marguerite Brown and Forrest Powers sang a very beautiful duet.
A large number of relatives, friends and neighbors attended the service and followed the remains to the Kendallville Cemetery whnre{sic} the body was laid at rest.
The sympathy of a large circle of friends is extended to those bereft.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in the Kendallville-Eddy Cemetery.
