OBITUARY.
RYAN
Mrs. Mary Catherine Ryan died at 2 o’clock Friday morning, Dec. 7, 1917, at the home of her son, T. E. Ryan, after an illness of about three weeks.
The deceased was born in New York, Nov. 15, 1828, and was married to Thos. Ryan, July 13, 1846, in Toronto, Can., the union remaining unbroken for fifty-five years when the husband died in 1901.
Mr. and Mrs. Ryan moved from Canada to the United States in 1857, residing for a time in Iowa and later moving to southern Minnesota, finally settling on the land which became their permanent home here in Harmony when this section of the state was comparatively wild.
Mrs. Ryan was the mother of thirteen children and leaves 183 living descendents{sic}, 7 children, 60 grandchildren, 109 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
The children who survive are Wm. H. of Grand Forks, N. D., Thos E. and Mrs. Jos Martin of Harmony, Mrs. Terrence McCabe of Plymouth Rock, Ia., Mrs. Perry Wanless of Cresco, Ia., Mrs. John Dag(illegible) of Tappan, N. D., Mrs. Lester Bar(illegible) of Rochester.
Three of her grand daughters furnished the music for the funeral service which was held at the Plymouth Rock Church, Rev. Father Burke officiating. Six of her grandsons bore her to her last resting place in the adjoining cemetery beside her husband and the three children who died in infancy.—Harmony News.
