OBITUARY.
DASKAM.
Belle McEvit was born in Canada on September 1st, 1870. In early life she came to the states and with her father’s family settled on a farm near Kendallville, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood. In January 1895, she was united in marriage to John H. Daskam at Decorah, Iowa. To them two children were born, one of whom survives, the baby girl having died {in} infancy. Her husband died in California in January 1905 since which time her only son has been the joy and comfort of her heart.
Most of her life has been spent in this community. For the past six years she has lived in Cresco, the last two of which at the home of her friend Miss Frances Darrow.
In 1906, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she has remained a loyal and faithful member. She was a woman of many excellent qualities among the most prominent being sincerity, courage, kindness, sympathy and a very amiable disposition.
After a brief illness of two weeks she departed this life on Nov. 3rd, 1917, aged 47 years, 2 months and 2 days. She leaves to cherish a very beautiful memory one son Max, who is a student in Cornell College, Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. George Graham, of Neepawa, Canada; Mrs. Andrew Carswell, of Saskatchewan, Conada{sic}; Mrs. B. L. Hoag of Harmony, Minn., and one brother, Mr. John McEvit of Monticello, Minn., besides a host of friends.
The funeral service was held t the First Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. G. Copeland. Beautiful music was furnished by Mrs. Dr. Allen and Mrs. Dana Mead, accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Nichols. The floral offerings were beautiful. Interment was made at Kendallville.
