OBITUARY.
STOCKMAN.
Abbie M. Nichols, daughter of Wm. and Lydia Nichols, was born in Albion township Feb. 14, 1864, and died July 28, 1917, at the age of 53 years, 5 months and 14 days.
She received her early education and grew to womanhood in Howard Co. She was dearly loved by all her associates and those who attended school taught by her.
On September 27, 1883, she was united in marriage to William Stockman. They then moved to Winneshiek county where they lived for 24 years. In 1907 they moved to Albion township where she lived until her death. Unto them were born four children: John and Mattie Stockman, Mrs. Lula Moore and Mrs. Beulah McIntire.
She has been a devoted wife and a Christian mother, always ready in any way to aid those in need. The patience she has shown during her sickness was very characteristic of her life. Her disease was made known over a year and three months ago, and during this long siege of sickness she was never known to utter one word of complaint to anyone who attended her.
In 1914 she united by letter with the Albion church and was an earnest and sincere worker, always willing to do her share.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, a mother, four children and three brothers. The brothers are C D. Nichols and Howard Nichols of Cresco and Holt Nichols of Rupert, Idaho.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Abion church, Rev. Ferree of Bonair officiating, with interment in the Eddy cemetery.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Lula Garman and Miss Jessie Kendall, of Leaf River, Ill., Cora Bigelow, of Preston, Minn., R. W. Chamberlain, wife and daughter, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Porter and daughter of Austin, Minn.; also the following friends: Mrs. F. A. Eckstein, of Chester, Mrs. Herman Eckstein and son Ernest, of LeRoy, Minn., Mrs. Charles Kniel and daughter and Mrs. John Faub, of Elgin, Ia.
