Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service at the church on Thursday morning.

Norbert Joseph Neuzil was born on February 8, 1932, to Frank and Julia (Wandas) Neuzil. Norbert attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Fort Atkinson High school in 1949. Norbert enlisted into the United States Army in 1952. He proudly served his country for two years until his discharge in 1954. Norbert married Ione Beckman on April 18, 1956, at St. Francis de Sales church in Ossian, IA. Four children were born to this union: Loren, Karen, Janice, and Craig.

Norbert worked many jobs in many different places: Decorah, Ossian, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines. He was the jack of all trades. His avant-gard approach to life and projects made for some innovative 'workarounds' and interesting results. One project that 'never got off the ground' was a P-51 Mustang pedal plane that supplied hours of enjoyment for his grand-kids and other kids taxiing down the sidewalk runways. He enjoyed bread-sack hikes through the woods in search of the morel. Folding with precision, one-dollar bills into origami bow ties. He liked to live life on two wheels, motorcycles and bicycles were his thing, but he did stop and smell the roses. For almost four years he enjoyed searching the world through his Grandpad and was blown away by the vast amount of interesting things he learned.

Norbert is survived by his wife, Ione Neuzil. Children: Loren (Bonnie) Neuzil, Janice (Ross) Lincoln, and Craig (Kim) Neuzil. Grandchildren: Sarah, Kenny, Cameron, Christina, Chad, Jodi, Emily and six great grandchildren. Son–in-law: Mike Ockenfels, Johnston, IA, Brother: Danny Neuzil, Decorah, IA, Brother-in-Law: Evroul Beckman, Ossian, IA, Brother/Sister-in-Law: Dave and Margaret Schmitt, Fort Atkinson, IA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Ockenfels. Parents: Frank and Julia (Wandas) Neuzil. Father/Mother-in-Law: Henry and Hildegard (Timp) Beckman, Brother: Bernard (Marie) Neuzil. Sister: Julia (Jack Bales & Kenny Brandt). Brother/Sisters-in-law: Alfred (Madonna) Schmitt, Germaine Beckman, and Ethie Neuzil.
