William David Swensen, commonly known as Bill, or Brad (Pitt) by many in Decorah, passed away in Rochester, Minnesota April 9, 2024, at the age of 89.

Bill was born in Decorah, Iowa on April 21, 1934, to Theodore and Ruth Swensen. Theodore later married Arlene Swensen, who became very close with Bill. He attended Decorah High School, where he was a member of the track and field team, excelling in running the sprint events. He also attended Luther College before leaving to serve in the Army, where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.

He married his lovely wife Marlene in 1956 and started their family in Seattle, Washington. As a manager at Boeing, Bill moved to various sites throughout the United States with his wife and children.

Bill is survived by his sons David and Eric, daughter Jennifer, sister Alice, three grandchildren (Mike, Erica, and Philip), great grandchildren (Solei and Bennett), and several nieces and nephews.

Bill enjoyed golfing, exploring, and was somewhat of a nature enthusiast. He loved being outdoors, either with his family on the weekends or going for long drives in the countryside. During the last year of his life, he would be seen cruising around Decorah on his Lectric Trike.

The family will be holding a private memorial service.
