OBITUARY.
Josephine A Taylor, who up to about a year ago was a resident of Winneshiek county from the early fifties, died on Thursday last, December 4th, at the home of her sister, Mrs. D. Grazier, in Topeka, Kansas, death being due to apoplexy. Miss Taylor was born February 4, 1848{?}, in Susquehanna county, Pa., and came to Winneshiek county with her parents in early girlhood. Old residents of Canoe and Burr Oak will recall David and Jane Taylor, who were her parents. During the active days of the Congregational church at Burr Oak Miss Taylor became one of its members and though the church eventually went out of existence she retained her affiliation with that denomination up to the time of her death. She was also a member of the Rebekahs. The funeral was held in Topeka on Friday last and the remains were brought to Burr Oak for burial, arriving there Sunday morning. The Rebekah service was held at the grave. During the greater part of her life Miss Taylor led a home existence and by her old friends and acquaintances was honored for the unremitting care that she bestowed upon her mother during the years of her old age.

Sunday the remains of Miss Josephine Taylor were brought here and laid to rest in the Burr Oak cemetery. For the last year she had made her home in Topeka, Kansas, with her sister Della. She had a stroke a few months ago and since then has been very poorly. About a week ago she had another stroke and never fully recovered. She has many friends in these parts who extend their sympathy to her relatives in their sorrow.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Burr Oak Cemetery shows she was born Nov. 4, 1843.
