Sarah Kingsley was born in Oneida county, New York, September 6, 1823. Was married to Andrew N. Green, October 17, 1943. They emigrated to Minnesota in 1856, and removed to Iowa in 1866, which has since been their permanent home. Mrs. Green departed this life Thursday evening, February 13, 1913, in her 90th year. She was the mother of eight children, six of whom, with the aged husband and one sister, survive her,--Elbert and Horace, Mrs. Saline Bennett and Mrs. Mary Callihan all of South Dakota, Mrs. Carrie Rivers of Riceville, Iowa, and Mrs. Ada Young of Kendallville. Mrs. Green joined the M. E. church when she was but sixteen years of age and has been a constant and consistent member since, always foremost in every good work for the betterment of humanity, long a teacher in the Sunday School and a member of the L. A. S. until the infirmities of age prevented and was well known and respected by a host of friends. She was a sister of the Rev. Calvin Kingsley, a bishop of the M. E. church, who died in Beyrout, Syria, as a missionary. Her youngest daughter Mrs. Ada Young has lived with her aged father and mother since the death of her husband eleven years ago, and has cared for them with unselfish love and devotion, anticipating their every want, doing everything for their comfort and rendering their last days peaceful and happy.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in the Kendallville/Eddy Cemetery. The gravestone shows the name spelled Greene.
