THE SILENT REAPER.

MRS. L. K. LOWER.
Mrs. L. K. Lower passed away Tuesday after an illness of several weeks, pneumonia being the final cause of death. Mrs. Lower’s maiden name was Eleanora Peck. She was born April 18, 1851, in Oswego Co., N. Y., coming to Frankville this county at the age of eight years. She was married to L. K. Lower on Dec. 24, 1872. Her husband and three children—Frank, Mrs. J. W. Waters of Frankville, and Mrs. Lester Lowry of Wells, Minn.,--two sisters and a brother survive her. The funeral will be held this morning at ten o’clock, Rev. M. Willett officiating, and interment will be made at Frankville. The deceased was a woman of kind heart, devoted to her family, and a loyal friend.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name spelled Elnora. Her gravestone shows she was born in 1859 which does not agree with the above. Find a Grave also shows she was married in 1874 which does not agree with the above.

OBITUARY.

The following obituary of Mrs. L. K. Lower came to us too late for insertion in the REPUBLICAN last week. Because of errors that appeared in the brief mention we were then able to make we give place to this account of her life:

Mrs. L. K. Lower passed away at 10:20 Tuesday morning, February 18th, 1913, at the family residence, 601 Winneshiek Ave., Decorah, Iowa. The deceased has been in failing health for several years and was stricken with bronchial pneumonia two weeks ago. Notwithstanding the efforts of the best medical skill, nurses and friends, a weak heart gave way and she passed into the great beyond.

Elenora Peck, daughter of William and Julia Peck, was born in Oswego county, New York, April 18, 1858. With the family she moved to Winneshiek county, Iowa, when but one year of age, and has been a resident of this county to the time of her death. On December 24, 1874, she was married to L. K. Lower. They made their home on the Lower farm on what is known as Washington Prairie, about four miles from Frankville, till eight years ago when, with her husband and daughter, Maude, she moved to Decorah, where they have since resided. One son and two daughters were born to them,--Frank Lower and Mrs. J. W. Waters of Frankville township and Mrs. Lester Lowery of Wells, Minn., all of whom, with her husband and three grandchildren, survive her. The funeral services were held at the residence Thursday last at 10 a. m., Dr. Willett officiating. Near relatives who were in attendance at the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Brawford of Estherville, E. E. Peck of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lowery of Wells, and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. M. Lower of Waukon.

The remains were laid at rest in the Frankville cemetery. Mrs. Lower united with the Congregational church a few years ago, where she held her membership at time of her death.

Peck of Des Moines, John Brawford of Estherville, Joe Lower of Decorah, Wallace Waters and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lower accompanied the remains down from Decorah.
