Miss Nellie Miller, who was called her by the death of her aunt, Mrs. J. Stringer, returned Monday to Mason City.

Vern Stringer returned to Minneapolis Tuesday after being here to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. James Stringer.

THE SILENT REAPER.
MRS. JAMES STRINGER.
Mrs. James Stringer, one of the old and well known residents of Decorah, died last Friday after an illness of a month, death being due indirectly to the burns she received on January 12th. Her recovery from that accident had been all that could be expected until unlooked for complications set in.
Mrs. Sringer’s maiden name was Sarah Jane Greer. She was born December 31, 1834, at Sherrington, Canada East, where she resided until the spring of 1857 when she came to Decorah, making her home with her brother, John Greer. On August 27, 1857, she was married to James Stringer. One son, George L. Stringer of Minneapolis, survives them. Mr. Stringer died a number of years ago. She is also survived by her brother, John Greer, and three half brothers—David Greer of Curlew, Iowa, and Wm. and Donald Greer residing in Oregon.
During the greater part of her long life here Mrs. Stringer was a member and faithful supporter of the Methodist church, a woman of kind heart and good deeds.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. G. S. Lackland officiating, and interment was made in Phelps cemetery. Beside her son and grandson there were present from out of town her nephews, Hiram R. Greer of Plainview, Neb. and Robert H. Greer of Sioux City, and her niece Miss Nellie Miller of Clear Lake.
