Naomi A. Gossman, 90, of Cresco, IA, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

Naomi Ann Flatland was born on October 19, 1933 in Highlandville, IA to Henry and Norma (Engen) Flatland. At age 10, her family move to rural Cresco. She later dated a neighbor, Herbert Gossman. They shared the same birthdate of October 19th, so in order to make it an extra special occasion, they were wed on October 19, 1950 at Plymouth Rock Catholic Church.

Naomi and Herb kept their house full of love, laughter and chaos by raising 12 children together. This was great for Naomi, because she could never, ever let her hands be idle. Along with raising a dozen children, she helped Herb on the farm with milking cows and she even drove the tractor. She also kept busy with her quilting and loved playing cards. Naomi was extremely proud of her large family and was able to watch it grow bigger and bigger over the years.

Naomi is survived by her children Greg (Betty) of Oak Grove, MN, Mike of Cresco, Julie Haslerud of Cresco, John (Amy) of Afton, MN, Cheryl McGinley of Eagle Bend, MN, Tom of rural Cresco, Pat (Shellie) of Cresco, David (Carri) of Riceville, IA, Laurie Kavitz of Hammond, WI, Terry (Dawn) of Cresco and Christopher (Amy) of Bryant, AR, grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Shanda, Caleb, Adam, Jordan, Abigail, Trina, Ragina, Glen, Echo, Nicholas, Mickey, Tyler, Tallen, Tara, Marty, Shelly, Tracy, Suzie, Daniel, Mitchell, Mason, Kirsten, Jay, Hannah, Haley, Hunter, Ashley, Alyssa, Cody, Amanda, Easton, Alivia, Jade, Eli, Judah, Isaiah and Grace, 35 great-grandchildren, sisters Bonnie Krogstad of Spring Grove, MN, Sue (Ed) Fontes of Cresco and Wanda Flatland of rural Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert, daughter Marie Konen, sister Eldie Peterson, brothers Kenny Flatland and Jesse Flatland, granddaughters Cierra and Mina, great-granddaughter Olivia, sons-in-law Chuck Haslerud and Roger McGinley.

Mass of Christian Burial for Naomi will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, IA with Father Dan Knipper officiating. Burial will follow at Plymouth Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco with recitation of the rosary at 3:30 p.m. The visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
